Today, December 10th, 2015, we celebrate the 65th annual Human Rights Day--a day officiated by the United Nations (UN) in 1950 to commemorate the importance of global human and civil rights. While there is still work to be done to protect the fundamental freedoms and innate rights of all, UNITED SIKHS made great strides towards this ideal all over the world this year.

Paris, France--Paris, known as the City of Love, is still reeling from shock after a series of bombings and armed attacks that shook the city on November 13th, 2015, and claimed 130 lives. On the heels of the attacks, the UNITED SIKHS team arrived in France to represent the Sikh community alongside thousands of mourners at Le Republique (Parisian square) during a candlelight vigil in memory of the victims.

UNITED SIKHS wishes its supporters a blessed Gurpurab as we celebrate Guru Nanak Dev Ji's Prakash Diwas today, November 25th, 2015. On this day in 1469, the first Sikh prophet was born. During the 70 years of his life, he spread messages of the unity of religions, equality of all people, and the importance of charity.

New York, USA - UNITED SIKHS joins the world to celebrate UN Day today, October 24, and looks forward to our continued eight year association with it through its programs for the rights for minorities and the underprivileged. UN Day marks the anniversary of the entry into force of the UN Charter in 1948.

Salt Lake City, USA -The Parliament of the World's Religions ended on Monday after five days of interfaith dialogue, exhibitions and performances. The 2015 Parliament was officially opened with a parade of flags and Native American drumming as regional tribal chiefs welcomed us to their land, and prayed for world peace. It was attended by 10,000 people from 80 countries and 50 faith and non-faith groups.

Washington, D.C.-UNITED SIKHS would like to thank its U.S.A. supporters who have taken a stand against religious discrimination by signing the petition to include a religious exemption amendment in bill S.806: Drug Free Commercial Driver Act. So far, we have received over 1,000 signatures.
